1980s Challenges & Resilience

1990s Modernization & Renewal With the economy rebounding, Jackson upgrades facilities and expands its customer base. The company’s first computer systems are introduced, revolutionizing pricing and inventory processes. A new generation begins to step into leadership, preparing for the next era.

A recession hits the building industry. Jackson endures through discipline and loyalty, consolidating operations and rebuilding stronger. Under Al’s leadership as President, the company modernizes operations, invests in technology, and begins a profit-sharing 401(k) plan—a commitment that continues today.

2000s Entering New Markets Jackson acquires Harvey Lumber in Haverhill (2000). In 2002, a 22-acre site in Raymond, New Hampshire, becomes home to Jackson’s growing millwork manufacturing center, with multiple expansions following. In 2008, Jackson Kitchen Designs opens in North Andover—a warm, design-focused showroom for homeowners and builders.

2010s Strategic Expansion Further growth includes a new Amesbury location (2012) and the acquisition of E.G. Barker Lumber in Woburn (2017), extending service to Greater Boston. In 2014, Jackson is named National ProDealer of the Year by ProSales Magazine—the first in New England to receive the honor. Facilities across Lawrence are modernized with new warehouses, corporate offices, and showrooms.

2020s Family & Future Now led by the 3rd generation— Jackson continues to innovate and invest in people, technology, and operations. The 4th generation have joined the business—are learning the trade from the ground up and carrying forward the values. With five locations, 25 delivery vehicles, and more than 200 associates, we remain a trusted partner for builders across New England— strong and proudly family-run for four generations.
